Museum concept
A Living Museum
The Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum opened in April 2005 with the basic concept of being a “Breathing Museum.” Just as living creatures breathe in and out, a museum can take in information and stimuli from outside and produce new kinds of stimuli while growing and developing through interactions with the surrounding community and environment. The Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum aims at becoming a museum of this kind that is truly lives and breathes.
Basic Concepts

Creation: Nourishing a rich capacity for sensory experience and creativity and creating a new regional culture unique to Nagasaki.
